After the exciting weather we had on Wednesday, Mother Nature granted us a sunny and beautiful day with calm seas for our diving on Thursday. Our first dive site was Punta Sur or more commonly known as the Devil's Throat. There is a 'swim through' section on this dive for those brave enough to enter...Wade was...I wasn't :-). We decided on the boat who would go in and who would stay out so I buddied up with Monica and Micheline while Wade buddied up with Brian. We all descended together and then the three of us watched the others enter the tunnel. Once they were in we swam up and over top of the coral formation they were going through. It was cool to see all of their bubbles coming up through the coral. We could track their progress by the path of the bubbles. It wasn't long before we were all reunited on the far side of the coral head and saw Nestor give the big YAHOO sign that everyone made it through ok. Wade took some video on his way through so I got to see what he saw...it was nice but I don't regret my decision to stay up top with the sunlight and pretty fishes :-).
Our second dive was at Villa Blanca. This site is where divers come to look for Seahorses and thanks to Nestor's sharp eyes we got to see THREE of them! They were bigger than I expected and I'm sure they are still a bit shell shocked after we all got done taking pictures of them. SO cute! Another critter checked off of my photography bucket list :-).
After we got back to shore and had some lunch it was time to gear up once again to do more Rescue Diver skills. Navigating search patters was the order of the day. Dave and Brian swam out and hid Monica's weight pouches somewhere between the Buoy lines in front of our resort and we had to buddy up and use our compasses to do a methodical search to find them. Jeff and Benaz found the first one and got to surface while Wade and I looked for the second one. It is surprisingly hard to search for a boring weight pouch when you are distracted by all the pretty fishes! LOL Finally we found the second weight pouch and surfaced. Exercise complete :-). Then we were told to submerge for a minute and wait for instructions...so we did...then Dave signalled us to go up...so we did...Monica was sitting on the dock...we all were looking at her waiting for direction...Dave and Brian had disappeared underwater. Finally Monica told us there were two missing divers out there somewhere and we should find them....so we organized a search and got to work. Wade and I found Dave and Jeff and Benaz found Brian...both were 'not breathing' and 'unresponsive'...so we got them to the surface safely and they miraculously revived! Exercise complete! Yay!
By this point we were all pretty pooped...so we headed to shower and dress before heading in to town for a bit of shopping and dinner.
We all went shopping this time...no one stayed behind to nap. Some beautiful rings were bought...after much long negotiation (long enough for Wade to go next door and get his tattoo!) then it was on to the tequila store...they were generous with the free samples...who knew tequila came in so many flavours!!! We all decided the chocolate varieties (three of them) were best. Luckily they had a buy 2 get 1 free sale...so we each got a bottle to bring home :-).
At long last we found a place for dinner...ate a great meal and caught a cab home...exhausted but happy.
